Plenty of dogs will happily chew for twenty minutes but will not sit still for ten seconds of brushing. This bone shaped chew toy works with that habit. It is covered all over in short, soft rubber nubs, so as your dog gnaws and rolls it around in their mouth, the nubs rub along the teeth and gums and reach the back teeth a brush struggles to get to. It is a simple extra between proper brushing, not a replacement for it.

A stretchy cord runs through the bone and comes out as a loop with a sliding toggle, so you can hold the loop for a gentle game of tug or let your dog carry it around by the rope. The rubber has a bit of give, which suits puppies working through teething and adult dogs that like a long, steady chew. It also gives your dog something to bite on while you brush their front teeth, which keeps the mouth open and the jaw still. It rinses clean under the tap. Choose Small for puppies and little dogs, or Large for medium and big dogs.

Pick the size that is too big for your dog to swallow, and if your dog sits between sizes, choose Large. This is a chewing and play toy, not a toy for very strong chewers. Supervise play, take the cord loop away when your dog is left alone, and replace the toy if pieces come away.

FAQs

Small is 8 cm long and suits puppies and small dogs up to about 10 kg. Large is 15 cm long and suits medium and large dogs from about 10 to 35 kg. The toy should always be too big for your dog to swallow, so if your dog is between sizes, choose Large.

No. The soft nubs rub along the teeth and gums as your dog chews, which makes it a good extra between brushes and an easy way to get a fussy dog used to something in their mouth. Keep up regular brushing and your vet's dental checks.

It is made of soft, flexible rubber for everyday chewing and gentle tug, which suits puppies and most dogs. It is not designed for very strong chewers who destroy most toys. Supervise play, put it away when your dog is left alone, and replace it if pieces come away.

Good Gear. Prices That Don't Bite.

Paw Harbour was created because we were tired of replacing chewed-through harnesses and flattened beds every few months. We only stock gear we'd happily use on our own pets: durable, well-made and sensibly priced. Every order ships tracked and free across New Zealand.
